Teacher of the Week - James Vassallo
On February 8, we paid another visit to a local classroom to present a deserving winner with the Great American Teacher of the Week award. James Vassallo, a science teacher at St. Martin of Tours, was surprised when we visited his class. He was nominated by Alex Dickey and his mother, Debra.

They had this to say about "Mr. V" who has been teaching at St. Martin for 40 years:
Mr. V pushes each child to do his or her best. My son has Mr. V for 6th grade science, and I had him in the 8th grade. Although he's mellowed over the years, some things have not changed—his desire to teach the students everything he can about science along with caring for them. Mr. V teaches his students never to settle for average and always push for that extra inch.

During the presentation, Mr. Vassallo said, "I've been teaching a long time, but it's something that I love to do. It's a great honor, and I've enjoyed teaching all the families at St. Martin."

Congratulations Mr. Vassallo!
