Security FAQs
Our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) provide quick answers to the most commonly asked questions
about GAFRI.com's Web site security.
How private is the information I submit on GAFRI.com?
GAFRI.com highly respects your right to privacy and has developed a detailed
Privacy Notice to explain our insurance information practices and how we
safeguard your personal information. Please refer to this
Privacy Notice for all the details.
Does GAFRI.com use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology, and how does it work?
Yes - GAFRI.com uses SSL technology to encrypt all data on both the client and
server side. With SSL in place, a person who attempts to intercept any data
between the client and the server is unable to read it because of its
encryption.
How does GAFRI.com securely store information I provide?
All information is stored in a secured database server behind two firewalls,
which act as gateways to prevent unauthorized individuals (e.g., computer
hackers and malicious intruders) from accessing confidential information.
GAFRI.com users (policyholders and financial professionals) are only allowed to
access data that belongs specifically to them.
How secure is the information I submit through forms on GAFRI.com (e.g., the online job application)?
All data that you submit on GAFRI.com is secured using a 128-bit SSL (Secure
Sockets Layer) key provided by VeriSign (one of the leading providers of
Internet security technologies). All form information you submit is encrypted
so that no third party can intercept and view it. Your submitted information is
then stored in the secure database, which is only viewable by parties who need
to see it (e.g., GAFRI Human Resources personnel who review online job
applications).
Does GAFRI.com use cookies, and how do they work on the site?
GAFRI.com currently does not use cookies to collect or store any personal
information. The only cookie that is used for security purposes is to keep
track of your session ID (when logging in to Account Access).
How do I know that I am in a secure section of GAFRI.com?
Any secure Web site will start with "https:" instead of "http:" (the "s" stands
for "secure"). So when you are accessing a secure portion of GAFRI.com, the Web
address will contain "https:" (e.g., when you submit an online job application
or login to Account Access). In addition, depending on your browser, there will
also be a special icon that appears to identify the Web site as being secure.
For example, in Internet Explorer, there is a padlock icon that appears in the
bottom status bar when you are on a secure Web page.
What security tips should I know to prevent others from accessing my personal information?
Here are a couple of suggestions to keep in mind:
-
Change your password periodically and keep your user name/password private. Do
not send your user name or password to others via e-mail or communicate it over
the phone. (NOTE: Be aware of telemarketing scams via e-mail or phone that ask
you to submit any kind of account information, including your user name or
password. GAFRI will not ask you for your user name/password in any unsolicited
e-mail or phone communications.)
-
If you are using a computer that others can access - e.g., in a computer lab, a
public library or Internet café, or a shared workspace - be sure to log out and
close out your browser after accessing any secure account information on
GAFRI.com. Taking this precautionary measure will prevent the person who uses
the computer after you from accessing any of your personal information.
