Teacher of the Week - Janet McGuire
On April 11, we surprised Janet McGuire as our Great American Teacher of the Week winner. Mrs. McGuire, a special education teacher at Madeira Elementary School, was nominated by student Dave Dougherty and his family. 

Dave's mother had this to say in the nomination letter:
I trust Janet with my son, and I have seen him grow into a fine young boy with a gentle, giving personality. She has always put Dave's best interests first. The amazing thing is, she does and has done this for all her students. Being a special educator is much different than being a classroom teacher. Janet deals with so many personalities and needs, and never seems to lose her enthusiasm. I cannot tell you what a gift she has been to our family and our school.

"This is a little overwhelming," said Mrs. McGuire during our surprise classroom visit. "I couldn't do this without all the children and wonderful people I work with."
